Last night , the usually crowded shopping centre was busy with a series of fun-filled activities as Mediacorp aristes and some of our favourites idols and Superstars were guest performances in a hour long Concert which promises to give it's shoppers a night to remember with the Stars !
Featuring Mediacorp artistes like Felicia Chin , Nat Ho , as well as Campus Superstars Renfred , Shawn and Daren Tan , they were invited to perform as part of AMK Hub's celebration of it's grand official opening ! And what an unforgetable night it has promised to be ! Besides singing , they also updated us with the latest developments about themselves in a short interview with the host !
The Concert was held at L1 Main Entrance which was facing the Ang Mo Kio MRT Station where a mini stage was set up . Before the Concert has started , there were already many people gathering in front of the performing stage , waiting and hoping to get a good view of the exciting performances that was to come . There were people from all walks of life , young and old alike , some even came together with their family members and friends !
Soon after some waiting , the Concert started at 8pm . The host for the Concert was Yes 933 FM deejay Lin Peifen . The Concert opener came with a big bang as Ngee Ann Poly Dance Students entertained us with an energetic dance that exhibits the vigour , youth and energy that the teenagers possess nowadays ! 4 girls dressed in all black thrilled us with their sexy moves , while the boys entertained us with stunts and quick dance moves that saw the atmosphere came alive !
After that entertaining opener , the first performer of the night for this Mega Concert was Felicia Chin . She sang two songs , Jolin Tsai's 'suo ai ni ' and Rainie Yang Chen Ling 's qing zu' . She looked cute singing the two songs and she sang very well indeed !
After her first song , Peifen interviewed her where she revealed that she was currently busy filming Mediacorp Year End Blockbuster 'Path of Gold ' where she plays a rich girl who unfortunately was struck with an illness and as she felt desponent and meaningless in life , often frequents night clubs and pubs ! She feels happy being able to act with many A -lists stars like Li Nanxing , Chen Liping , Chew Chong Meng etc where she said she has learnt a lot from them . As these scenes require her to dance sexyily , she even went to pick up belly dancing recently , she revealed !
She went on to admit that it is a challenging and a really breakthrough role for her as fans and TV audience would get to see a different side of Felicia Chin , a wild side - a ' Felicia Chin that is not your usual Felicia Chin ' in this character - in a way , a big sacrifice in some way too ... she said .
After the short interview , she continued to entertained us with her second song - Rainie Yang Chen Ling's - 'qing zhu ' in conjunction with AMK Hub celebration of it's grand opening ! As she sang , she often flashed her sweet smile and waved back at her fans in reply . A fitting song to a wonderful night ....
After her performance , next up was the army boy from ' Honour & Passion ' - Nat Ho's turn to perform . First , he sang Wilber Pan 's wo rang ni zou le ' . Despite him not so strong in his Mandarin , he did not disappoint and sang very well indeed !
After the song , he updated us with his latest developments . He is currently busy filming ' Path of Gold ' as well and at the same time is in reservist . So , due to his reservist , the filming for his role in ' Path of Gold ' has to be stopped .Also fans of Nat , can look forward to see him appear on TV this coming Tuesday night , 25 Sept at 9pm on Channel 5 in Life Story 2 Episode on ' The Quest ' .
Then after his short interview , he sang a song that is associated with the Mid - Autumn Festival which is fast approaching ( coming Tuesday ) - the song ' yue liang dai biao sui de xin ' .
Next up on stage to perform was first Season Campus Superstar Male Group Runners Up - Renfred Ng . He entertained the crowd with two songs too . First , the Theme Song of Mediacorp - ntv 7 co - produced Drama Serial - Yuan Dian - ' The Beginning ' - ' kong qiu qian ' by Lin Yu Zhong . He sang relatively well but not as well cos I feel that he did not have enough punch especially at the chorus part , but overall still very nice to hear still .
Then , in his short interview session with Lin Peifen , he revealed that he has currently finished filming a new Drama Serial -
Dear,dear Son-In-Law 女婿当家 and viewers will soon get to see him appear on TV again really soon when this Drama Serial is shown . * It will debut on 16 October 2007 at 9pm after Metamorphosis ends ! *This is his second Drama Serial that he will be appearing in since the Idol Drama Serial ' Let it Shine ' earlier this year in January . He is currently having a three weeks school holidays and will be returning to school soon . By then , fans will not have much chances to see him appear on TV and outdoor performances .
Then he continued with his second song ' Look Into My Eyes ' where he demostrated his dance moves with a bit of rap too .
After Renfred exciting performance , it was the newly crowned Campus Superstar overall winner Shawn Tok's turn to wow the crowds ! This is his first outdoor performance since being crowned Campus Superstar 2 overall Champions ! He sang Gary Cao Ge's ' shi jie wei yi de ni ' which he did sing before in one of the rounds in his Campus superstar competition days . It was a very difficult song even the host Lin Peifen also share the same sentiments where she commented as she interviewed him . The crowd stood still and in completely silence as they were totally meserized and captivated by the talents of this young boy's wonder .
During the interview , Shawn did not speak much as he was shy , ( I guess ) ! Peifen asked him how he felt at being crowned overall Champions in Campus Superstar as well as how his teachers and classmates felt having a Superstar in their class in school . Whether they would tease and ask him sing for them if they want and the need arise etc ... Shawn said no and was very happy to be Champions of Campus superstar . At the tender young age of Primary 4 , he already liked singing and will hum and sing along the song he felt is nice to hear .
Last but not least , after witnessing what the Champions of Campus Superstar can do , it is time to end the Concert with a big bang ! Daren Tan took to the stage all dressed in black from head to toe and sang JJ Lin's hit song from his latest newly released Album - ' sha shou ' .
It was a rather difficult song to sing but he did very well and with a bit of beat box too ! Even he himself admitted later in the interview with Lin Peifen that it was indeed a very difficult song to sing as all the words are tightly crammed together and all the words are different !
In the interview , he said that he is currently busy involved in a stage musicial - Beauty World ' in which he will play Ah Hock , a gangster 'ah beng type of character . The stage musicial as he revealed will be on 2 January next year . So fans of Daren , do give him your support and watch him act and sing in his first stage musicial .
He also mentioned that the singing in the stage musicial is completely different from how the pop songs are being sung and it is according to him a real challenge and a whole new experience in havinng to act and at the same time sing .
Besides being busy with the Beauty World ' stage musical , he is also currently busy preparing for the upcoming President Star Charity performance where u will be able to see not only his his performance , but also other Mediacorp stars perform too! * President Star Charity will be shown LIVE next Sunday , 30 Sept 2007 at 7.30pm on Channel 5 !
Also , during the interview , he also gave his fans a piece of good news ! The news that his fans have been dying to know : Just when will his Album be released ? He revealed that his Album will definitely be out at the end of October ! That is according to him , chop plus guarantee ! And around the release of his long awaited Album , Yes 933 FM will be the first Radio Station to broadcast some of the songs from his Album EXCLUSIVELY !
After his interview , he gave powerful finale performance to end the night's Concert on a real high - the Theme song from the current new Mega Action Packed Police Drama Serial - ' Metamorphosis ' 'dou shen ' - a song that will also be included in his soon to be released Album come end of October this year . Although the song is rather powerful and noisy , especially at the chorus part , it really worked up the atmosphere to make the atmosphere electrifying ! The atmosphere just come alive ! It's so hot & rock !
A fantastic and indeed a great performance from the Project Superstar winner ! After the finale , all the performing guests were invited back onto the stage again and they were each asked by the host to say auspicious greetings and wishings to AMK Hub . Thje crowds standing in the front row who had brought cameras along with them were give 5 minutes to take a photo of their favourite stars and idols ! After that , the Concert officially ended with a display of fireworks !
