Synopsis :

Lin Fei did not die. Instead , she almost had a miscarriage, but was send to hospital in time . As it turns out , Lin Fei gave birth to a son.

Meanwhile , Rou Gu Mei’s body is found in the wilderness and it is Kaijie who killed her. Jinlong is bent on taking revenge and uses Kaida to lure Kaijie out, not knowing Kaiqi has come along too. When the four of them meet, it stirs up past memories. Kaiqi and Kaida beg Jinlong to let Kaijie off. Jinlong relents and does not open fire. Jin Long committed suicide to join Rou Gu Mei after scattering her ashes at the sea.

Kaijie is wanted by the police for murdering Rou Gu Mei. To avoid being arrested, Kaijie goes into hiding overseas and is never heard of again.

The story moves to a year later ....

Kaijie has escaped abroad . He runs away as he was being investigated for corruption and the murder of Rou Gu Mei . While hiding in a hotel, he gets stabbed to death by the guy delivering room service who then took his money ....

Meanwhile , Kaida has recovered and goes back to becoming a doctor. He was well enough to go back to hospital to help out . Xiao-gu sold the restaurant and the dry market. She closes down all her businesses and goes back to running a small food stall.

Also , Kaiqi had a daughter and Oily Man Ah Lin now runs a small garang guni business .

Kaijie laying unconscious on the ground after being stabbed by the hotel room service guy , who also took away all his money .

Classic Past Mediacorp Drama Serials Starring Christopher Lee Now on Malaysian Channels !

Good news to all Christopher Lee fans ! Starting today , two of his past Mediacorp Drama Serials will be shown on Malaysian TV Channels in the afternoon ! First , starting today onwards , a CNY related Drama Serial 福禄寿三星报喜 starring him and his girlfriend Fann Wong will be shown on 8TV Channel at 5pm from Mondays to Thursdays ( see previous post )

Then next , currently showing on another Malaysian TV Channel ntv 7 Channel is True Heroes - 真心英雄 a 2003 Mediacorp produced Drama Serial that saw him play a role of a cop in that Serial . This same Drama Serial was also being re-run on our own Mediacorp Channel 8 at it's evening 5.30pm slot last year !

Synopsis of True Heroes :

Real crimes such as the spider robber, VCD piracy have been weaved into this 25 Episode Action Packed Drama Serial . The police officers in the story stay alert daily to provide security to the civilians, making them the peoples' "True Heroes".

The protagonist Junhao ( Christopher Lee ) is a righteous and courageous cop who was born into a family of police officers. Junhao graduated with top honours from the police academy and harbours the ambition to join the elite Criminal Investigation Department. He is sorely disappointed when he learns that he has been assigned to a neighbourhood police post.

During a big fire, Junhao saves the life of an old lady, earning the adoration of the old lady's granddaughter, Irene (Yvonne Lim). Much to his despair, Irene tries to come between Junhao and his colleague-cum-love-interest, Kexin ( Phyllis Quek) . On the other hand , Junhao's colleague, Wang Feng (Allan Wu) is unable to get along with Junhao. However, Wang Feng changes his mind about Junhao when the latter saves him during a mission!

Besides Christopher Lee as the main cast in this Serial as a cop , this Serial also boosts a star studded cast of Phyllis Quek , Yvonne Lim , Jeanette Aw , Cavin Soh , Huang Wenyong , Lin Meijiao and Alan Tern ....

Shades of Familarility In The Golden Path Drama Serial ...

Mega Year End Blockbuster Drama serial - The Golden Path- 黄金路 is produced as part of Mediacorp Channel 8 celebrations of it's 25 Years of Drama Anniversary , so it's not really surprising that viewers can get to see some familiar scenes from past classic Drama Serials such as The Seletar Robbery , The Flying Fish , Pretty Faces , Turn of The Tides , Finishing Lines , The Last Applause , Stepping Out and Holland V .

Besides the expected familiar scenes from past classic Drama Serials , viewers were very much surprised to see some familiar roles from past classic Drama Serials ' making an appearance ' in the Serial too !

For example , Li Nanxing ’s Jinlong , bad tempered gangster like character resembles very much the role which he acted in the Drama Serial The Vagrant - 豹子胆 in 2002 .

Tay Ping Hui who will later become a cop resembles the role , which he portrayed in the Drama Serial - CID - 刑警2人组 , which he was also a police officer in that Drama Serial .

Carole Lin's fierce character resembles the role which she portrayed in Wok of Life - 福满人间

Also , the Ah Jin who committed the Robbery in 1982 in this Golden Path Serial , somehow reminds me of the Drama Serial which was produced in that same year - Seletar Robbery - 实里达大劫案 .

Chen Liping's role as a mother here who has to take care of a big family somehow resembles that of her role as Mo Wan Wan in the 2003 Blockbuster Serial Holland V - 荷兰村 .

Also , Alan Tern's character - De Jian here also resembles the role he portrayed in the 2005 Blockbuster Drama Serial Potrait of Home - 同心圆 when he was trying to woo Mei Ren Yu ( Felicia Chin ) and sowing discord between Felicia and Pierre Png in that 2005 Blockbuster Drama Serial ! The same look , the same expressions can be seen once again as he tried to woo Simin ( Priscella Chan ) and preventing Kaida ( Chow Chor Meng ) from getting close to her .

With all these similarities and resemblance of storylines , roles and characters , The Golden Path is truly a Drama Serial very fitting for their 25 Years of Drama Anniversary !

Well Done , Mediacorp for incorporating past Characters and Roles in the storyline !

With that said , I was hoping to see if Jinlong will gamble till one day he visits the casino , then we can see Li Nanxing perform his ‘ magic ‘ on the poker cards once again , just like he did in The Unbeatables Series ! Maybe a possibility too ? Who knows ?

The Golden Path Star Feature - Jin Feng

For those who have been following the Series everyday without fail , u would be very familiar of a particular character in the Serial by now - Jin Feng . She plays Tay Ping Hui 's sister who is a happy go lucky - always cheerful and simple minded girl who has no interest in her studies and only aspires to be an Actress ! Her lively acting skills have since caught the eye of many ardent consistent followers of the Series and many have been asking who's she ? Where's she from ?

As a newbie and considering that this is only her very first Drama Serial that she has acted in , she certainly has done very well indeed ! Many feel she really has the potential to go very far in this line indeed ! To find out more about her read on ...

National University of Singapore undergraduate Joey Feng, who is also Miss Singapore Universe 2007’s first runner-up and Miss Photogenic, is set to conquer the local media scene of Mediacorp !

The third-year economics and theatre studies major has signed a part-time contract with MediaCorp, and is cast alongside with popular stars like Li Nan Xing, Tay Ping Hui, Felicia Chin and Joanne Peh in it's 25 Years of Drama Anniversary Drama Serial - The Golden Path .

Despite having experience in stage acting, Feng said it was not easy acting for the screen. “If the director thinks it’s not good enough, they will keep on retaking,” she said. ”So it’s very hard to hold on to the emotions, especially if it’s a crying scene.”

In the Drama Serial , Feng plays Jin Feng, a “naive, happy-go-lucky, cheerful” girl. She had to cut her long hair to suit her role. “I was finding a good reason to cut it, because I have long hair all my life, but nothing good came until this show!” she said.

Pegan Chong, an arts student and a close friend of Feng, said she sees the potential in Feng and is looking forward to her debut. “I want to see a different her, like having different personalities,” Chong said. “Then see how she acts with the MediaCorp faces (that) we already know, and perhaps look out for her ‘gan cheong’ (nervous) expressions.”

Feng has been busy shuttling between school and work ever since the start of the semester. She has been filming ' The Golden Path ' since July and has just ended her shooting recently. “When it first started, I really couldn’t cope and it hit me really hard,” she said. ” I try to balance both.”

Despite her hectic schedule, Feng said she will not neglect her studies for the showbiz. It’s really tiring,” she said, “and moreover being in third year, I’ve decided that this shall really be the last year that I’ll work hard.”

Feng said she is grateful to her friends who have helped her cope with her studies. “I find my concentration span not very good (due to the hectic study-work schedule),” she said, “but with the help of very good friends, who will lend me their notes, I think I’ll do fine.”

Apart from being an actress, Feng said she is also considering working in the banking sector or even fulfilling her childhood ambition of becoming an air stewardess. The glamorous starlet was crowned Cleo Cover Girl in 2004 and was featured in the February issue of Cleo in 2005. Feng said she joined the competition as she is an ardent Cleo fan.

Her motto, “life is short”, was also another motivating factor for her to join the Miss Singapore Universe pageant. “I wanted to join a pageant and I wanted to just join one,” said Feng. “So why not join the biggest and the (most) celebrated in Singapore?”

Feng sees her acting stint at Mediacorp as an opportunity to hone her acting skills. “Opportunity doesn’t come knocking at your role twice,” she said. “It doesn’t matter like, a bad role was being offered… you have to act different role to have good credentials in your card.”

Despite the glory and fame surrounding Feng, the theatre studies student maintains a low profile in school. “I don’t think they (the student population) even know I exist, other than my own friends,” she said.

Chen Li Ping as Xiao Gu :

She is the wife /widow of Ah Jin ( played by Li Nanxing ) . The pivotal character of the series, Xiao Gu's first husband Ah Shun ( Edmund Chen ) died early, forcing her to raise her three children alone. She insists on marrying Ah Jin against all odds and adopts his two children when he commits suicide after a confrontation with the police .

Li Nanxing as Ah Jin :

He is the husband of Xiao Gu . Ah Jin is a fugitive in hiding, where he gets to know Xiao Gu. With his background unknown to Xiao Gu, they decided to marry each other, only to be pursued by the police on their day of marriage after a tip-off from Xiao-gu's second son, Kaijie. His children Jin Long and Jin Feng were entrusted in her care after he committed suicide .

Li Nanxing as Jinlong :

He is the son of Ah Jin . But after Ah Jin dies , Xiao Gu adopted him so he is the adopted son of Xiao Gu . Spiteful towards the Huang family because of his perception that Xiao-gu was responsible for his father's death and that she used his loots to rise to riches, he has a love interest towards Huang Kaiqi ( Joanne Peh) . He eventually leaves the family after the death of his sister Jin Feng, whom he believes was caused by Kaijie( Tay Ping Hui) , his biggest nemesis. He joins the secret society, and after some time, rises to be the infamous 'Loan Shark King'. He eventually marries Bak Kut Girl .

Chew Chor Meng as Huang Kaida :

He is the eldest son of Xiao Gu . A medical student, kind-hearted Kaida discovered the crime his brother Kaijie had committed and eventually loses his sanity after covering up for him. As a result, he lost his licence to be a doctor as well as his love interest Lu Simin ( Priscella Chan ) .

Tay Ping Hui as Huang Kaijie :

He is the second son of Xiao Gu . Responsible for tipping the police off which eventually caused the death of Ah Jin, Huang Kaijie became a policeman after graduating in law. He has a love interest for Jin Feng, but drowns her after making her pregnant. Marrying Lin Fei ( Felicia Chin ) despite the latter's affections for Jin Long, he goes into hiding after his crime was investigated by his superiors .

Joanne Peh as Huang Kaiqi :

She is the daughter of Xiao Gu . Huang Kaiqi is a good natured individual who aspires to be a journalist. The only one who can communicate with Jin Long, she discovers his exploits in the underworld after he leaves the family and tries to coax him back without avail .

Felicia Chin as Lin Fei :

She is the wife of Kaijie . As u have read earlier , Lin Fei eventually married Kaijie despite her affection for Jin Long . Born into a rich family, Lin Fei suffered from a terminal illness with a bone marrow transplant only possible from Huang Kaijie to save her life. She falls for Jin Long despite marrying Kaijie. After discovering his background, she took a bullet for Jin Long and died in his arms .

Cai Peixuan as Bat Kut Teh Girl :

She is the wife of Jinlong , after Jinlong married her ( as stated above ) . A runaway from Malaysia where she was forced to marry a rich man to clear her father's debts, she works at Jinlong's Grandpa bat kut teh stall. There, she develops a love interest in Jin Long and marries him. Intently in love with Jin Long, she killed a policeman for him, but slips from his arms to her death after being rescued by Jin Long from a prison van on the day of her trial for the murder.

Zhang Wei as Grandpa :

He plays Jinlong's Grandfather who runs a bat kut teh stall and employed Bat Kut teh Girl as his assistant . He loves to gamble and as a result , loses a lot of money in one of his gambling and loansharks was after him and he has to go to hiding .

Huang Wenyong as Lin De Sheng :

He plays the father of Lin Fei ( Felicia Chin ) . Aware of his daughter Lin Fei's terminal illness, Lin De Sheng dots on her and gives her free will to do anything she wants. When she was saved by a successful bone marrow transplant operation, however, his relation with her begins to worsen as begins to plan for her life.

Joey Feng as Jin Feng :

She plays the daughter of Ah Jin , who is also the adoptive daughter of Xiao Gu . A simple girl who aspired to be an actress, she is the love interest of Kaijie, who made her pregnant. However , he refused to acknowledge their relationship and drowned her instead.

Priscella Chan as Lu Si Min :

A medical undergrad , Si Min is the lover of Huang Kaida ( until he suffers from a mental illness) as well as De Jian .

Get set to see double this month as Channel 8 25 Years of Drama celebration goes into full swing ! Two Star Awards Presentation Ceremonies , Two Mega Blockbuster Drama Serials and if u haven't noticed yet , Mediacorp Channel 8 has already released TWO versions of 25 Years of Drama Theme Songs Album as well !

The countdown to the first of two Star Awards Ceremony is now just a week away ! The 25 Years of Drama Star Awards night will take place next Sunday , 9 December 2007 LIVE on Channel 8 at 7pm . Get set to see a galaxy of Stars from yesteryear to the present as we honour the efforts of all involved in the success of local Drama Serial production of 25 long years of hard work and still counting in the highest and grandest manner !

Then a week later , it's the annual Star Awards Presentation in Star Awards 2007 . The Awards Ceremony will be from 7pm to 10pm LIVE on Channel 8 , then followed by a Post Awards Celebration Show at 10pm LIVE on Channel U .

Besides the two Star Awards , this month we will get to see two Mega Blockbuster Drama Serial at both the Primetime Drama Serial timeslot of 7pm & 9pm ! First up is The Golden Path which boosts a star studded cast of A-list Artistes of Chen Liping , Ah Ge Chew Chor Meng , Li Nanxing , Tay Ping Hui with 7 Princesses representives Joanne Peh , Felicia Chin . The 30 Episodes Mega Blockbuster Premieres on 11 December 2007 , Mondays to Fridays at 9pm on Channel 8 !

The other Blockbuster is of course Kinship 2 which is set to debut on 17 December 2007 onwards , Mondays to Fridays at 7pm .

Also , Mediacorp has also in conjunction with it's 25 Years of Drama Celebration released two Theme songs Albums . The first comprises of Theme songs and sub-Theme Songs sung by Mediacorp Artistes . The Album includes Theme songs from Drama Serial ' Love At 0 Degrees ' sung by Rui En , Honour and Passion Theme Song sung by Tay Ping Hui , Men in Black ( aka wo lei ye ) Theme song sung by Fann Wong , Morning Express 1 sub-Theme song sung by Chen Hanwei etc ... This Album consists of a total of 33 songs in 2 CDS ! It is being sold at $ 18.95 at all Popular Bookstores !

The other Theme song Album comprises of 3 CDS with 36 Tracks with Theme songs sung by popular singers like Zhou Hua Jian who sung the Theme song for Morning Express 1 , Li Zhong Shen who duet with Zoe Tay for The Unbeatables 2 Theme song , as well as May Day who sang zhi zu - The Theme Song for A Child's Hope etc ... This Theme Song Album is being sold at Popular Bookstore for $20.96 .
