The biggest and largest Idol competition is set to take Asia by storm this Summer ! Asian Idol 2007 is an upcoming version of the singing competition format , Pop Idol . Featuring winners of Idol competitions from 6 Asian countries consisting of Malaysia , Indonesia , India , Vietnam , Philippines and Singapore , it is one big Idol competition that u won't want to miss this year !
It is set to be held on mid-December 2007 in Jakarta, Indonesia . RCTI the largest TV station in Indonesia , which also hosts Indonesia Idol will be the main TV station with the competition also being broadcast live in the participating countries. The voting procedure for Asian Idol, will allow performers to receive votes from their respective countries. Each participating country will have its own system of determining its representative.
As a kickoff to Asian Idol , all six contestants will be introduced through an Idol Showcase presentation on December 8, 2007. Meanwhile, fans of each contestant will be able to choose the song they want their Idol to perform before the Asian Idol performance show. The Idols will perform two songs each : One in English and another in their native language . Every competing country will send a judge to comment on the contestants' performances.
The production of Asian Idol will be put up with the help of the people behind Australian Idol . Unlike World Idol which was a one-off affair, Asian Idol competition is said to run for five weeks with one Idol being eliminated every week ! In addition to the coverage of Asian Idol , RCTI will run a series called "Asian Idol Extra" between late November to mid-December 2007 .
