A Rich History of Drama Production ... From SBC To Mediacorp TV

It's been 25 long years ! 25 years of Drama production , from as early as the SBC Days to TCS and then now to Mediacorp TV ! Although , Channel 8 has already started producing Drama Serials in 1981 with it's first Drama Serial being 想入非非 - ' Fantastic Idea ' , however , MediaCorp considers 实里达大劫案 - ' Seletar Robbery ' to be its first official Drama Serial Production , thus it marks its 25 Years Anniversary of Drama Production from 1982 .

So , when the first official Drama Serial ' Seletar Robbery ' made to our Television screens was on 25 July 1982 . In that same year alone , Channel 8 has produced a total of 10 Drama Serials ! From 1982 to 1993 , they were known as SBC - Singapore Broadcasting Corporation .

SBC , for short , was a partially privatised mass market media conglomeration, which dominated the entire television then and most of the radio broadcasting industry in Singapore during its existence. Prior to the liberalisation of the broadcasting industry, SBC holds a virtualised monopoly in Singapore in the broadcasting industry. Under SBC , Channel 8 was known as SBC 8 in those days which was both a Chinese and Tamil Channel ...

It was only until in 1994 that they made a transistion from SBC to TCS - Television Coporation of Singapore . Here we take a look at some of the Drama Serials produced in those ten years ... Enjoy !

Then in 1994 , they were known as TCS - Television Corporation of Singapore where they were under a privatisation exercise in 1994 . Then in 2001 till now , TCS officially became Mediacorp TV .

25 years of long hard work and this year we mark this joyous milestone occasion with a Special Star Awards Ceremony on 9 December 2007 ....
