A Look At EPL Big 4 So Far ...

29 August 2007

The EPL new Season has already played four rounds of League matches already since it's commences on 18 August 2007 and last Season's runners up - Chelsea are the current League Leaders with Man City second and Wigan third ....

When the next rounds of EPL games are played , it will be in September already ... Let us take a look at the performance of the EPL Big 4 Teams - Man United , Chelsea , Liverpool & Arsenal so far ...

Man United

Last Season's League Champions made a slow and disappointing start to the new Season , with the team so unlucky to be hit with a series of injuries and suspensions so early into the new Season . With key players out such as Wayne Rooney , Louis Saha , Ronaldo ( suspnsion ) , the team only managed to pick up two points out of three League games played . With 2 draws and a defeat to their City rivals , they were at the relegation zone ( 19th position ) when they played Spurs last Sunday . They finally registered their first win against the London side courtesy of new signing Nani 30 metre cracker . A match that the Red Devils were so very lucky to win but also came so close to losing all 3 points ! The win puts them in the Top 10 heading into this weekend's home match with Roy Keane's Sunderland !

Comments :

Roy Keane's Sunderland may have lost some of their luck to win games after making an impressive start to the new Season with an opening day victory , followed by a last gasp equaliser in their next game to force a draw to stay unbeaten , but since then , they have been losing games recently - to Liverpool last weekend at home and even crashed out of the Carling Cup yesterday .

Although the team is currently not having the best of performances , still expect The 'Black Cats ' as Sunderland are known to give Alex Ferguson's men a good fight . Roy Keane would very much want to go all out for a win ,especially against his former club so as to prove to his mentor that he can be just as a good coach as he was a player playing for them then . No victory will be as sweet as doing it against his former team and Keane would very much relish this challenge . A tough test for Alex Ferguson and his boys is in store . Keane will surely know all about The Red Devils strength's and weak points inside out . Also , look out for former Red Devils reject coming back to haunt them , the likes of Yorke & Cole ... An exciting match is in store ....

But no match is much bigger for Man United than next month's Big Showdown with Jose Mourinho's Chelsea on 22 September . What's crucial now for the defending Champions is that they have to continue from where they left off last week and continue winning before they meet Chelsea to close the gap as much as possible against the current League Leaders , currently trailing them by 5 points .... The last thing they want from now till they meet Chelsea is to suffer yet another defeat which could very much see their titles hopes all gone as soon as it has just begun for them ...

* Tomorrow : We look at Chelsea 's performance so far ...
