It's just 5 More Days to the highly anticipated TV Showpiece Event of The Year - Star Awards 2009 ! After much controversy and seeing it being postponed twice , the BIG Awards Night is finally here round the corner !
While much of the attention will be on how many Awards the hit TV Blockbuster Drama Serial - 小娘惹 The Little Nyonya will win on the Awards Night this Sunday , after gaining a total of 24 Nominations in an unprecedented scenario in Star Awards History , the other main focus of the Night has to be on one man - 郭亮 Guo Liang !
Besides being THE Man of the Big Night as a host , this year also sees him having arguably the BEST chance to break his personal Star Awards ' curse ' which has surprisingly been with him for an exact ten years already ( including this year ! )
One have to go back to exactly ten Years ago in 1999 when he last had the chance to grab hold of the Star Awards throphy ! Despite being widely recognised for having done an excellent job in hosting , the Best Variety Host Award has somehow always " manage " to elude him year after year , which saw him lose to the likes of Mark Lee ( twice ) , Bryan Wong & Quan Yifeng in recent years .
As for the Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes Category , he has been an absent figure since he last won it in 1999 . Then he managed to make it to the eventual Top 10 List on the Awards night itself for three consecutive years ( 1997 , 1998 & 1999 ) .
So , with him being nominated for THREE different Categories this year , one can't help but feel that there is a very high chance of him being able to finally break his Star Awards ' duck ' since 1999 & to stand on the stage to receive the Star Awards throphy for at least ONE of the Awards that he is being nominated for this year !
Also , with him having such a high appearance rate on TV these days - both in Dramas ( Table Of Glory ) and as a Host ( 综艺 GO LIVE on Mondays 8pm & 小男人周记 On Fridays 8pm ) - with viewers getting to see him appearing on Channel 8 thrice a week ! ) it's really very hard to see why he will go home empty handed on the Awards Night again this year !
