The annual Chingay Parade for this year has been scheduled to take place on two days - Friday , 30 Jan 2009 & Saturday 31 Jan 2009 ( 8pm) .
The Chingay Parade has been a yearly affair since 1973 , held in conjunction to add more atmosphere to the Chinese New Year Celebrations . This year , it will not only be held over these two days , but it is set to hit the streets of Singapore to the heartlands near u !
Mediacorp Channel 8 who has been showing the Chingay Parade LIVE each year WILL NOT for the very first time be showing it LIVE this year ! Instead , it is scheduled to show the Last Episode of the Sheng Siong Show LIVE from 8pm to 9pm this Saturday instead !
The Channel will however carry a DELAYED TELECAST of the Parade on the next day instead - Sunday , 1 February 2009 from 8pm to 10pm and trailers of the scheduled DELAYED Telecast of the Chingay Parade 2009 has been hitting the TV Screens recently .
Some felt that the reason for the move was due to the clash of the Sheng Siong Show & the Chingay Parade , with both starting at the same time of 8pm ! However , some felt that the Chingay could still be scheduled to be shown LIVE on Mediacorp other Channels instead - if Channel 8 is really unable to accomodate to the LIVE Telecast of the Chingay Parade !
The Chingay Parade could still have been shown LIVE on Channel U , Channel 5 or even ChannelNewsAsia instead of only making plans for a DELAYED Telecast on Channel 8 the next day ! Singaporeans who could not make it to watch the Parade at the venue on Saturday and have been tuning to the LIVE Telecast of the Chingay Parade on TV each year will surely be very disappointed indeed with the arrangement made this year !
